Thinking of visiting Southbay? Here’s what you might like to know.

WHAT TO EXpect

Everyone is welcome…

Whether it’s your first time stepping into a church building, or you have been part of other churches before, you are welcome at Southbay. We come from different ethnic backgrounds, different cities, and different walks of life. Some are students, some are single, some have big families, and some were born in another country. We have artists and engineers. We are all exploring what it means to follow Jesus.

Southbay Kids

We have a vibrant and growing children’s program. After attending the first 20 minutes of worship with their parents, children will join Southbay Kids in age-specific group. The time will be spent in fun learning from the Bible and activities and games designed to help kids make friends and learn about Jesus. We also have a nursery for children ages 0-18 months and another one for ages 18-36 months.

Checking In

To make sure you connect with the right group, use the lobby tablet and create a profile for your child. You can then check-in using your phone number each time you attend. A label will be printed for the child to wear and the parent will receive a unique code for picking up their child.

Safety First

We take safety and the care of children very seriously. All of our teachers are background-checked and receive regular training in first-aid and other interventions. We are fully compliant with California laws about the care of children.

FAQs

We start with singing a few songs that are addressed to Jesus. Then there is a short time of announcements and then our pastor or guest speaker gives a 30-minute message teaching from the Bible. We end the service with another song and a reminder of our church’s mission to go and make followers of Jesus.

We are a Christian community who worships Jesus, the Son of God. We are called to speak the good news about Jesus and invite others to a relationship with him. We are also called to love our neighbors as ourselves. Read more about our beliefs here.

Children are a big part of Southbay! We always plan children-focused programs at the same time as our adult worship services. Children enjoy singing with their parents and then learning from the Bible and activities and games with their peers in a safe environment with trained teachers. We don’t have a dress code! If you like dressing formally, you will find some folks in suits or dresses. Some people wear shorts and tennis shoes. Most people wear something dressy but comfortable. It’s up to you; no one will think about your dress while you are here.

We have a couple of First-Time Visitor Parking spots and a Reserved space for our speaker in our parking lot. Other than that, parking is first-come, first-served. You can park in the gated lot (the gates will be open until 1:30pm) or you can park on the street. Our church is located in a residential neighborhood, so we try hard to be respectful of our neighbors by not blocking their driveways or gates.

If you’re looking for more ways to get involved at Southbay, we recommend attending a Growth Group at 11:30am on Sunday which will allow you to go deeper with topics that relate to our everyday lives. We also have Neighborhood Groups that draw together groups from around San Jose. Check out a group and find one that works for you.
