Statement of Faith
ABOUT US
Southbay Chinese Baptist Church (SCBC) was founded in 1980 by twelve Christians in the City of Milpitas with the desire to reach the Chinese community in the North Valley locally and in China afar. Since then, we have moved from Milpitas to the northeastern area of San Jose. From renting an auditorium as our meeting place to currently owning an acre of land with a multi-purpose building, we have experienced the abundance of God’s grace.

During the last two decades, SCBC has gone through many changes. We now have two distinct congregations:

The Chinese Congregation in which the primary Chinese dialect used is Cantonese, though we have a few who speak Mandarin.

The English Congregation which now extends its outreach to include other Asian communities. (Of course, we welcome people of every cultural background as well).

We believe many things can be changed in order to keep in step with the changing world. As the needs of the people change, the church will continue to make changes to adjust to the peoples’ needs. One thing we cannot change and will not compromise is the message of the Cross of Jesus Christ. We maintain to preach from the Word of God.

Currently, the church is led by a team of God-loving and people-oriented leaders:

Rev. Larry Tong, Senior Pastor
Rev. Jonathan Lee, English Pastor
Pinnie Wu, Associate Minister

Brother Ming Ng, Deacon
Brother Sam Tong, Deacon
Brother William Wu, Deacon

We also have other Church Council members serving together as a team.

Thank you for visiting us via the web. If you are geographically distant from us, I hope you will find a Bible-teaching church near you to attend, and you may also visit our monthly Pastor’s Corner and the Scripture of the Month. If you live near us, I would like to invite you to come visit us in person. You will find our church a warm and accepting place where the Bible is taught. May the Lord richly bless you.

Pastor Larry
